We developed a collection/database of videos capturing micro-interactions between children and the outdoor environment in different contexts distributed across countries: for example the city of Mechelen, the school playground (and its surroundings), the natural outdoor environment, the forest and the local town, the playground for a forest kindergarden.

IO 5 - Educating the reflective practitioner
Closely connected to the video-database we developed exercises to work with the database on the one hand and on the other hand these exercises can be used on their one without the imagedatabase. The exercises will help professionals (teachers, policy-makers, architects, …) and parents to interpret the video traces of the interactions between children and the outdoor environment. These tools and exercise will help them value, read and imagine the outdoors as a learning environment in early childhood.
